In 2013, NASA tested RF propulsion in a vacuum for a period of eight days.〔(), NASA Report on Anomalous Magnetoplasmadynamic RF Thruster〕 They released the results of this report under Mechanical Engineering category on July 28, 2014 suggesting that it may be possible to produce thrust without a propellant using this method. In contrast to ion thrusters, this design simply bounces RF waves from one part of the thruster to another. It is unknown what forces are involved to then create thrust, but it is speculated to be a Q-thruster and in fact works under exactly the same principles (in theory).〔(), Microwave propulsion breakthrough revolutionizing space travel.〕 The US Model of the Q-thruster was created by US scientist Guido Fetta.
